  Overview

With the introduction of Department of Orthopaedics along with Department of Neonatal Paediatrics in Pratiksha Hospital the Department of Physiotherapy was also initiated. A Physiotherapists is an essential member of an interdisciplinary team in an integrated health care setting who provide more comprehensive health care service. They use evidence-based practices for the prevention and treatment of physical , neurological , respiratory or surgical health problems.

World Confederation of Physical Therapy states that "Physical therapists provide services that develop, maintain and restore people’s maximum movement and functional ability. They can help people at any stage of life, when movement and function are threatened by ageing, injury, diseases, disorders, conditions or environmental factors. Physiotherapists are movement and function analysts who work in association with their patients, a physiotherapist can also help prevent further injury by listening to patients needs and expectations, working together to plan the most appropriate treatment for any individual condition, including setting goals and treatment outcomes. There are multiple techniques of rehabilitation used in Physiotherapy. Mobilization is one such important technique used for Orthopaedic and Sports Rehabilitation. So a basic training programme to equip the upcoming Physiotherapists with manual skills is planned.
